What you need to know:

  • Based on the nature of the duties for this position, the incumbent in this position will be expected to work 100% in office.

  • Fina salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.

Job Summary:

The position requires building and setting forms, tying rebar, pouring concrete, and building guardrail for full-scale research experiments. This position also assists in the conduct of those experiments. Continuation in this position is contingent upon availability of funding derived from research program or specific projects.


Essential Duties:

  • Set up and operate all equipment necessary to change size, shape, and form materials
    for test installations. 30%

  • Perform necessary bench and floor work in making, finishing, and assembling parts,
    some of which require the use of measurements to close tolerances. This includes
    carpentry and welding. 30%

  • Install test apparatus at crash site, which includes site preparation. 30%

  • Perform skilled and semi-skilled work in construction and repair of various equipment
    and apparatus involving the use of several trade skills. 9%

  • Other duties as assigned. 1%

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 3 years related work experience in general construction.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • General construction knowledge

  • Ability to operate a forklift

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of wood construction

  • Knowledge of concrete construction

  • Knowledge of arc and gas welding

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to tolerate outside working conditions.
